When you look for a content creator for your business, you will encounter photographers, filmmakers, UGC creators and influencers. The same person may work across all these roles. What matters is understanding what your business receives and how the collaboration supports your marketing.
Do you need photographs and videos for your website, social channels and campaigns? Or would you also like the creator to present your product or service from their own perspective and publish content to their audience?
I offer both. I am Jere Alanen, the photographer, filmmaker and content creator behind Jeyshoots. Based in Turku, I work across Finland and on international projects by agreement. Here, I explain the difference between content production and a commercial collaboration, when to combine them, and what working with me can bring to your business.
In brief: content production gives your business material for its own use. A commercial collaboration with me combines production with agreed publication to my audience. Content, publication scope and usage rights are agreed in advance.
Both options are commercial services. In this article, a commercial collaboration means a brand partnership that includes publication on my channels. This is also known as a creator collaboration.
Content production for your business: material for your own channels
Business content production can include brand photography for a website, short social videos, product images, staff portraits or event coverage. Written content can also be included where agreed.
Your goals and channels guide the work. What would you like to communicate, to whom, and where? Together, we plan material that serves that purpose and decide what makes sense for one shoot or an ongoing collaboration.
The finished content is delivered for your business to use within the agreed scope. Publication on my own social channels is a separate part of the collaboration.
This model suits businesses updating their website, building a consistent image library or needing fresh photography and video for regular marketing.

Commercial collaborations: production, perspective and an audience
In a commercial collaboration, I plan and produce content that I also publish to my audience through my own channels. The collaboration may centre on a product introduction, launch, campaign or longer-term partnership.
Product features become meaningful when people can see them in practice. How do I use the product? What can it do? Where does it fit? My work as a photographer and filmmaker provides a concrete setting for answering those questions.
For your business, the project can combine a concept, visual production, a creator's first-hand perspective and publication on agreed channels. We can also agree on additional material for your own communications or advertising.
We assess the fit through both the content and the audience. Your target customers, my audience and the proposed execution need to work together. That is an important part of the commercial rationale.

How do the two models differ in practice?
| Question | Content production | Commercial collaboration |
|---|---|---|
| Where will the content appear? | Your own channels and agreed uses. | The creator's channels, with business usage agreed separately. |
| What are you buying? | Planning and finished photography, video or written material. | Production, a creator's perspective and agreed publication to their audience. |
| Who publishes it? | Your business or marketing partner, as agreed. | I publish on my channels; your own publications are agreed additionally. |
| What determines the price? | Planning, production, editing, deliverables and usage rights. | These elements plus publication scope, channels and any exclusivity. |
| How is success assessed? | The usefulness of the material and your own channel objectives. | Additionally, publication reach, views, interest and agreed next actions. |
Examples of content production and commercial collaborations
Nikon ZR: ongoing collaboration from launch to finished films
My Nikon ZR collaboration includes videos and social publications around the camera launch and its subsequent use. The collection combines cinematic work with practical experience. The lead film is The Architect, accompanied by eight other selected videos in the case study.
This shows how a collaboration can continue beyond a launch through different formats, combining hands-on experiences with finished visual stories.

Brightin Star: showing product features through real work
In my Brightin Star collaboration, I presented the AF 85MM Portrait Prime lens through portrait photography and cinematic video. I took the lens into a real shoot to show the images it produces and how it works in my practice.
The project combined first-hand experience, visual examples and content intended for my channels. Someone considering the product can see its use and assess the resulting images.

Canon Nordic: a working filmmaker's perspective on a launch

With Canon Nordic, I created a content collaboration around the release of the Canon R6 V. I explored the camera in actual production settings, documenting both its output and the work behind the scenes.
This approach helps connect product features with a user's needs. Photography, video and hands-on experience together create a story through which people can understand the product.

Kiko: building interest before launch

For Kiimento's Kiko Original mini camera campaign, I produced Instagram content around unboxing, the surprise colour reveal and everyday camera use. The project included videos and a photo carousel, supporting pre-launch marketing.
It illustrates how one product can support several stories. First impressions, practical use and the photographs it creates each offer a reason to become interested. The campaign also aimed to direct viewers to Kiimento's website.

Turku Trojans: photography and video around sport

My sports photography and video production for Turku Trojans in 2025–2026 illustrate another side of content production: capturing a team and its events visually.
This is an example of photography and video production. Publication on a creator's own channels is a separate agreement. When planning content with a sports club or event organiser, potential needs can include match communications, atmosphere, people and partner materials.

Reblum: showing software through practical creative work
My Reblum collaboration includes two videos: one addressing portrait skin retouching and another presenting a cinematic autumn portrait look with the Nikon ZR. The software is connected to practical photographic work and its visual result.
This illustrates how a commercial collaboration can serve a software business too. A practical example helps viewers understand what the software can be used for and how it relates to their own work.

Rajala Pro Shop: video and expert articles
The Finnish-language Canon R6 V versus Nikon ZR comparison video I created for Rajala, together with two articles I wrote for Rajala's blog, show how a collaboration can combine different formats. The articles cover compact cinema cameras and controlling a cinematic look in challenging light.
For a business, this combines a creator's practical experience, video and written content published through the client's own channel. Different formats can support product exploration and give readers room to examine the subject at their own pace.

A project can also combine video with expert articles and blog posts for your own business channels. Content, publication channels and usage rights follow the objectives agreed for the collaboration.
When is a commercial collaboration with me a good fit?
A commercial collaboration is worth considering when your product, service or story fits my work and is relevant to my audience. Products that can be demonstrated in practice are especially suited to combining first-hand experience with a finished visual production.
The value can come from several elements:
- Making a product understandable. A use case shows what a feature means and who it may help.
- A coherent execution. The concept, shoot and editing can follow one shared idea.
- Publication to a relevant audience. The content meets people through the creator's channels as agreed.
- Material for further use. Versions and rights for your own channels and advertising can be included in the proposal.
For a launch, we might plan a publication on my channels, shorter video versions and photography for your business. Different parts of the same production can then support the campaign in several places. The scope follows the objective, budget and agreed rights.
How can a business evaluate the value of a commercial collaboration?
Start by defining the objective. A product launch, website traffic and sales enquiries require partly different measures.
For awareness, we can examine reach and video viewing. To encourage product exploration, link clicks and subsequent website actions also matter. A sales-focused campaign can use appropriate tracking links or a campaign code.
Views and reach describe different things: one person can view content more than once. When planning a collaboration, we also consider audience location, interests and the current channel data available.
The usefulness of the delivered material matters too. Could campaign photographs serve your website? Will you need a version of the video for advertising? Identifying those needs before the shoot lets us plan the production accordingly.
My starting point is a collaboration whose objective, content and evaluation method are clear to both parties. Results also depend on factors such as the product, offer, website experience and the audience's purchase needs.
Agree on usage rights and publication channels before production
An organic post on your business account, a paid advertisement and a collaboration published through a creator's account should be distinguished in the proposal.
We discuss where the material can be used, for how long, in which territories and whether new versions may be made. We also agree on any advertising through the creator's account and any exclusivity affecting competitor collaborations. These details influence scope and pricing.
Commercial publications are clearly labelled so viewers can identify the advertising relationship and the advertiser. Disclosures follow the Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority's guidance.
What does content production or a commercial collaboration cost?
The price reflects what is planned, produced, delivered and published. Production factors include shoot duration, locations, crew and post-production. A commercial collaboration also defines publication channels, the number of publications, campaign duration and usage rights.
See the content production pricing examples. For a commercial collaboration, I prepare a proposal based on your brief. An initial budget helps us choose an execution that gives the main objectives enough attention.
Frequently asked questions about working with a content creator
Can I commission content only for my own business channels?
Yes. I can plan and produce photography, video and other agreed content for your business. Publication on my channels is agreed separately.
Can a commercial collaboration include photographs and videos for my business?
Yes. We can plan both content published on my channels and separate material for your use. Deliverables and rights are defined in the proposal.
